Collin County Market Watch: Dallas Area Home Prices Continue To Rise
“If you own a house and want to sell, it’s probably the best time in years.”
Dr James Gaines ; Economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University
Another month of real estate statistics has been released for the Dallas area, and with it yet another reason to rejoice. In what may be the strongest sign of a recovered housing market in the Dallas area, home prices were up by the largest percentage in more than a decade. And many experts expect that trend to continue well into 2013.
The greatest single cause of the price jump in Dallas is the available inventory. The number of homes listed for sale is at it lowest level since the early 2000's. The lowered inventory combined with all-time low interest rates has continued to bring the buyer's out and create greater competition for the available homes. If inventory levels continue to remain low then the trend of rising home prices will most certainly continue.
